We are a citizens group in Lincoln, Rhode Island that is dedicated to promoting
honest, responsible and responsive government, through acquiring and distributing
civic and economic information of value.
This non-partisan, non profit group was formed by Dr. Ronald Stewart and Anthony Baglini, neighbors living on Twin River Road, in August of 2005, in order to deal with noise and commercial expansion issues with negative environmental impact on the community.
A third charter member was invited to join with us, Cobble Hill resident Edward O'Neill, whom the board of directors then appointed president. Kathy Spets was added as secretary and we were off and running. We have grown into a group whose purpose has become to communicate with, and give a voice to the many disenfranchised voters and taxpayers of Lincoln.
All donations accepted are for the purpose of funding our meetings, advertising and maintaining this website.

Our primary focus is holding elected officials accountable for their official actions and
ensuring a fair process in government decision making.
Strategy: Bring together groups from various neighborhoods to lobby the Council and Administration on local issues, Attend Council meetings to keep abreast of decisions that impact taxpayers/neighborhoods, Update members via web site and email, Use the freedom of press to make LTA positions known and to garner support, Develop, lead and participate in Community Service Projects.
Membership is open to residents of Lincoln who share our concerns and wish to become part of a group that will speak up for their rights. We will hold meetings as needed and when we can afford them, to discuss town issues, as they occur.
We encourage members with a special interest or talent to volunteer on committees.
We need to work together to make this a success!

The following quote is from an editorial in the September 2005 Providence Journal written by Edward Achorn, Deputy Editorials Page Editor, which has served as our inspiration:
"Special interests....generally exploit the indifference of average citizens who are too busy working and/or raising families
to pay too much attention.
The only good way to balance the influence of special interests is the tried and true method: Citizens have to care enough to get involved. They must read the newspaper every day, organize into groups themselves, call their representatives to praise them or complain, and vote out politicians who defy the public interest."
"Taxpayers could easily assert the power of their overwhelming numbers if they organized in every community
and began doing the hard work of self-government.......Those too busy to participate directly could contribute
a few dollars a month to such citizens' unions-----money that would be more than repaid in lower taxes, better government services, and more responsive officials. Best of all, such citizens' groups could stimulate greater awareness of what is going on in government...."
